From 25 March to 6 September 2026, the exhibition Lella and Massimo Vignelli. A Language of Clarity retraces more than fifty years of design research, revealing the depth of a vision that has influenced graphic design, architecture, product design and visual communication worldwide.

Designed by Jasper Morrison Studio, produced by Espositiva and curated by Francesca Picchi with Marco Sammicheli and Studio Mut, in collaboration with the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the exhibition brings together a vast constellation of works — objects, furniture, interiors, drawings, models, photographs, manuals and publications — illustrating not only the evolution of a style, but also the development of a true vision of the world.
A creative universe developed between post-war Italy and 1960s New York, within dynamic cultural communities that helped redefine the role of design in contemporary society. The exhibition highlights a principle that runs throughout their entire body of work: design is not decoration, but structure. It is not aesthetics for its own sake, but a system of relationships capable of organising space, making information clear and improving everyday life.
The retrospective is not only a tribute to two leading figures in international design, but also a reflection on the value of design as a cultural and civic act. In an age marked by complexity and visual overload, their work continues to remind us that clarity is a form of responsibility.
A lesson that remains relevant and continues to guide the way we conceive, shape and inhabit spaces.
